Dóin Grimjaw was the son of the Dwarven Lord Durin II, the king of Khazad-dûm responsible for forging a confederation with the Men of the vales of Anduin in which the Men provided food in return for Dwarven weapons.

Many a Man, Elf and Orc has made the mistake of underestimating Dóin son of Durin by his stunted stature.  Beneath his Dwarven War-mask and Dwarf-mail from Belegost is a graven and musclebound hammermaster forged, like his mithril warhammer, in the fires of Moria.  Few have ever heard him speak, save in the secret tongue of Khuzdul, as he usually prefers to let his hammer speak for him.
