Irimë

Noldor Bard-Smith

Irimë was a Ñoldorin elf, the daughter of Finwë, the High King of the Ñoldor, and Indis the Fair, of the Vanya.  Her mother name among the Ñoldorin is Lalwende, and she is known as Irien to her close friends.

Irimë was born during the Noontide of Valinor in Tirion and grew up in a realm of peace and luxury. The third child of Finwë and Indis, and their second daughter, Irimë is the sister of Fingolfin and Finarfin and half-sister of Fëanor.  She developed her skill in song, magic, culture and academics during this blessed time.  She was, in this Age, one of the three fairest elf women born.  Irimë joined Fingolfin and crossed the sea in the Exodus from Tirion, however, she, like Fingolfin were left behind after the Kinslaying.

The tragic events of the Kinslaying touched the bard deeply, as she sang the laments of the slain.  Her virtuosic songs provided catharsis for those who lived, and those who remain remember her for that. It was during these tragic years that she learned the art of weaponcraft, and the use of sword and spear to protect and to slay. If she was not at the forge, she would comfort the weary in camp with song and music.  At times, she would serve as a messenger or a herald.

Irime is a loremistress for the order of Elven jewel smiths created by Celebrimbor,  the Gwaith-i-Mirdain, who later forged the Rings of Power.  These smiths were at the height of their power when the fair Annatar came to them offering gifts and instruction.  She was the primary liaison with the Dwarves of Moria, and loved to travel across the world to gather knowledge.

Irimë was at the height of her power, when Annatar began to instruct and collaborate with the Gwaith-i-Mirdain.  Her virtuostic masterpiece, is an unbearably beautiful artifact ring that is a precursor to the Rings of Power forged by Celebrimbor.  It is made with a silver-blue moonstone, set in mithril.
